My dream would be to have every breed available, but that is not practical nor possible at this stage or on this property.
  • We supply fertile eggs for all the above breeds when available.
  • Pick-up : $25 dozen
  • Posted : $25 dozen plus postage and packing
  • Chickens of various ages of all the above breeds can be purchased when available Prices vary according to age and breed

Poultry breeding is very much a sesasonal activity. Chickens are hatched from August to November and egg production declines with the change of seasons. The major egg production is from July to March with the peak being from September to November. This can vary with some breeds


If you enjoy growing vegetables and gardening in general, raising chickens can be a very complintary activity as the manure can be composted to make excellent fertiliser for the garden. We use it in our vegetable garden and orchard to great advantage

OUR STORY

  • Poultry have been a part of our lives for many years. Jim has been breeding chickens since he was 10 years old, buying a trio of bantams with his pocket money. When Carole and Jim and children moved to their mixed farm in the Strezlecki Ranges over 30 years ago , free range chickens, ducks and geese were a big part of their plan. Retiring from the full farm workload several years ago, Jim was able to realise his dream of breeding heritage chickens on their two acre block in Warragul. Carole was able to continue selling free range chicken and duck eggs as well.. It is a hobbie, keeping us active in our retirement. Our Meremma guard dogs assist in looking after the flock by keeping foxes away. We have found them excellent in their job over the past 30 years. They are also wonderful companions and good guard dogs in general, but overall invaluable in our poultry game.

Each breed is penned separately with their own outside run and feed freely from hoppers of both grain and pellets. They also have a regular supply of greens from owr gardens for quality egg production
Gold laced Barnevelders are a quiet bird, laying a dark brown egg and they are not inclined to go broody. A nice addition to the backyard flock.
